Irish moss is a type of algae or seaweed. This red, branching seaweed is found on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean in Britain, North America, and Europe. Irish moss uses as food.
Irish moss is largely made of carrageenan that is jelly-like, which makes Irish moss so broadly useful. Carrageenan can be used for gelatin as a vegan substitute, as well as a general emulsifier, so it can be found in everything from ice cream to infant formula. Carrageenan contains iodine.

  • In surgery, Stop using carrageenan at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery because it might increase the risk of bleeding and interfere with blood pressure control during a surgical procedure.

Interaction:
Be cautious with the following combination-

  • Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs interact with CARRAGEENAN which might slow blood clotting. Taking carrageenan along with medications might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding by slowing down the blood clotting.

Dose:
The recommended quantity and dosage of Irish moss is about 1 to 2 tablespoons which are about 4 to 8 grams of Irish moss per day.
